Songs with The Beatles Mentioned in the Lyrics

The Beatles influence on many aspects of culture and life is evident, when you hear references to them in the lyrics of many songs. I don’t think there’s any other band, which could brag about such honor. There are a few references to Rolling Stones, mostly along with the Beatles, and not any I know of to other bands. Correct me if I’m wrong, and send to me such examples in comments or by email, I would appreciate that. But here I will list many songs with The Beatles mentioned in the lyrics one way or another. It can be a fleeting mention showing them as a symbol of a time period, many times as a sign of admiration, sometimes as an inspiration for a musicians, and other times as a part of the song author’s life.
To be clear, the songs listed below are NOT part of The Reunion podcast, but just another example of greatness of the Beatles. The music for The Reunion podcast is described in the “Reunion Project Music” post.

If you think it is easy to find such songs on Internet, using Google or other search engines, or on Youtube search, just give it a try. You’ll soon find out that it is difficult as hell. Just mentioning the Beatles gives you gazillion of links, and how exactly can you find their mention in the lyrics? Well, you still can, but you don’t have to, because here they are below. Interestingly, the songs mentioning the Beatles, are not all in the genre of rock or pop. There’re in such genres as latin, hip-hop, jazz, R&B, country, blues, International folk, punk, comical and many others, and, of course, rock and pop as well. Indeed, I don’t think such a variety of musicians mention any other band, musician or composer in their lyrics. Remember, each and every one of these songs mentions the Beatles, each in its own way and context:
- God – John Lennon
- Na-Na Song – Sheryl Crow

The last one I just added for laughs!
Links to Russian Songs Mentioning The Beatles in the Lyrics

As I explained in the “The Beatles from behind the Iron Curtain” post, the Beatles played special role in the U.S.S.R. and other Eastern European communist countries. They were inspiration for a change to freedom and capitalism and were part of the communism eventual demise. Therefore there’s a lot of love of the Beatles in the former U.S.S.R., there’re large and active Beatles forums, Beatles cover bands and a huge Beatles fandom. Some the Russian musicians also mentioned the Beatles in their songs, and I’m listing them here for those of you who know the language, as well as for other fans curious about International appeal of the Beatles.
